Four foreign journalists have been released in Tripoli, Libya, due to the sustained efforts of Hungarian embassy officials reported the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday.
Representatives of the Libyan government handed over the four journalist – two American, one British and one Spanish citizens – detained for several weeks to the Hungarian Ambassador to Tripoli. The freed journalists will be transported to Tunisia, on Thursday by Hungarian Embassy staff and they will be handed over to representatives of their home countries reads the ministry's statement.
Pierre Vimont, the Secretary-General of the European Union Foreign Service expressed his appreciation in a letter to Bela Marton, the Hungarian ambassador to Libya for his outstanding efforts helping securing the release of the four journalists.
